Aura

Intention Setting

Manifestation

Meditation
A practice of focused awareness and mindfulness that can be enhanced through the use of crystals. Holding crystals during meditation or placing them on the body can deepen the meditative state, enhance intuition, and facilitate spiritual connection. Different crystals support different meditation goals, from calming anxiety to opening psychic awareness.
Third Eye Chakra
The sixth chakra, located between the eyebrows, associated with intuition, insight, imagination, and psychic abilities. Represented by indigo or deep purple colors, it governs our inner vision and ability to perceive beyond the physical realm. Crystal Care & Maintenance
Charging
The process of restoring or enhancing a crystal's energy after cleansing. While cleansing removes accumulated negative or stagnant energy, charging fills the crystal with fresh, positive energy. Common charging methods include placing crystals in sunlight or moonlight, on a Selenite plate, in the earth, or surrounding them with other charged crystals.
Cleansing
The practice of removing accumulated negative, stagnant, or unwanted energy from crystals. Crystals absorb energy from their environment and handlers, requiring regular cleansing to maintain optimal function. Methods include moonlight, sunlight, smoke (smudging), sound, water, salt, earth burial, and placing on Selenite. Not all methods suit all crystals, so research is important.
Moonlight Cleansing
A gentle and universally safe method of cleansing and charging crystals using the light of the moon, particularly effective during full moons. Crystals are placed outside or on a windowsill overnight to absorb lunar energy. This method is ideal for all crystals, including those sensitive to water or sunlight, and is believed to enhance intuitive and feminine energies.
Programming
The process of imprinting a crystal with specific intentions or purposes after cleansing. Programming creates an energetic template within the crystal that aligns its natural properties with your goals. This is typically done by holding the cleansed crystal, focusing clearly on your intention, and stating it aloud or mentally while visualizing the desired outcome.
Selenite Charging
A popular method of cleansing and charging crystals using Selenite, a high-vibration crystal believed to constantly emit purifying energy. Placing other crystals on a Selenite charging plate or near Selenite wands cleanses and recharges them without any additional effort. Selenite itself rarely needs cleansing due to its self-clearing properties.
Smudging
A cleansing practice that uses the smoke from burning sacred herbs or woods to purify crystals and spaces. Common smudging materials include white sage, palo santo, cedar, and sweetgrass. The smoke is believed to carry away negative energies. Pass crystals through the smoke several times while setting the intention for cleansing.
Sound Cleansing
A method of cleansing crystals using sound vibrations from instruments such as singing bowls, tuning forks, bells, or chimes. The sound waves are believed to break up and disperse stagnant or negative energy from crystals. This method is safe for all crystal types and can cleanse multiple crystals simultaneously within the sound's range.
Sunlight Charging
A method of energizing crystals using direct sunlight, particularly effective for crystals associated with solar energy and vitality. However, prolonged sun exposure can fade certain crystals including Amethyst, Rose Quartz, Citrine, and Fluorite. Brief morning sunlight (15-30 minutes) is generally safer than intense midday sun.
Crystal Forms & Shapes
Cluster
A formation where multiple crystal points grow together from a common base, creating a group of naturally occurring crystals. Clusters are powerful energy radiators, sending energy in multiple directions simultaneously. They are excellent for cleansing rooms, charging other crystals, and creating harmonious energy in shared spaces. Amethyst and Clear Quartz clusters are particularly popular.
Crystal Elixir
Water that has been infused with crystal energy, also known as gem water or crystal-infused water. The water is believed to absorb the vibrational properties of the crystal. IMPORTANT: Not all crystals are safe for direct water contact - some are toxic or water-soluble. The indirect method, placing crystals around (not in) the water container, is the safest approach.
Crystal Grid
A geometric arrangement of multiple crystals designed to amplify and direct energy toward a specific intention. Grids typically include a central stone surrounded by supporting stones placed in sacred geometry patterns such as the Flower of Life, Seed of Life, or Metatron's Cube. The combined crystal energies work synergistically to manifest goals more powerfully than individual stones.
Geode
A hollow rock formation lined with crystals on its interior surface, typically formed when mineral-rich water fills a cavity in rock and slowly deposits crystals over millions of years. When cut open or naturally broken, geodes reveal sparkling crystal interiors. Amethyst geodes are especially prized and serve as powerful energy generators for spaces.
Point
A crystal with one or more naturally formed or cut terminations (pointed ends). Single-terminated points direct energy in one direction (through the tip), making them ideal for healing work and directing intention. Double-terminated points transmit energy in both directions simultaneously, excellent for balancing and bridging energy between two points.
Polished Crystal
A crystal that has been tumbled, cut, or shaped and then polished to a smooth, shiny finish. Polishing makes crystals easier to wear as jewelry, carry in pockets, and handle during meditation. While some believe polishing diminishes energy, most practitioners find polished stones equally effective for healing work with a gentler, more refined energy than raw specimens.
Pyramid
A crystal carved into a four-sided pyramid shape, believed to focus and amplify energy through its apex while drawing in energy through its base. Crystal pyramids are used for manifestation, charging other crystals, and as focal points in meditation or crystal grids. The pyramid shape itself is considered sacred geometry with powerful metaphysical properties.
Raw Crystal
A crystal in its natural, unpolished state as it was found in the earth. Raw crystals retain their original formation, often with rough surfaces, natural terminations, and matrix material attached. Many practitioners prefer raw crystals for their unaltered energy, believing they carry the most potent and authentic vibration directly from the Earth.
Sphere
A crystal carved and polished into a perfect ball shape. Spheres emit energy equally in all directions, making them ideal for filling entire rooms with crystal energy. They represent wholeness, completion, and infinity. Crystal spheres are used in meditation, scrying (gazing for intuitive insights), and as powerful centerpieces for healing spaces.
Tumbled Stone
A crystal that has been placed in a rock tumbler with grit and water for several weeks, resulting in a smooth, rounded, polished stone. Tumbled stones are affordable, portable, and comfortable to hold or carry. They are perfect for beginners, pocket stones, crystal grids, and crystal collections. Most commercial crystals are available in tumbled form.
Wand
An elongated crystal, either naturally formed or carved into a wand shape, used to direct and focus energy during healing sessions. Crystal wands typically have one pointed end (for directing energy) and one rounded end (for drawing or smoothing energy). Practitioners use wands to cleanse auras, activate chakras, and perform focused energy healing on specific body areas.
Properties & Characteristics
Amplifying
A property of certain crystals, particularly Clear Quartz, that enhances and magnifies the energy of intentions, other crystals, and healing work. Amplifying crystals boost the effects of whatever energy they encounter, making them valuable in crystal grids and combination healing. They can intensify both positive intentions and existing energies in a space.
Balancing
The quality of certain crystals to restore equilibrium to the body's energy systems, emotions, or chakras. Balancing crystals help harmonize opposing energies, bringing stability to areas of excess or deficiency. Stones like Amazonite, Fluorite, and Tiger's Eye are known for their balancing properties, helping to create centered, grounded states of being.
Clarity
In gemology, clarity refers to the presence or absence of inclusions (internal characteristics) and blemishes (external imperfections) in a crystal. Higher clarity typically means fewer visible flaws. However, in crystal healing, inclusions often add character and can contain additional minerals that enhance metaphysical properties. Phantom quartz and garden quartz are prized for their inclusions.
Hardness (Mohs Scale)
A scale from 1-10 measuring a mineral's resistance to scratching, developed by German mineralogist Friedrich Mohs in 1812. Diamond rates 10 (hardest), talc rates 1 (softest). Crystals below 7 require careful handling and may not be suitable for water cleansing. Understanding hardness helps determine appropriate care, durability for jewelry, and safe cleansing methods.
Healing Properties
The metaphysical, emotional, physical, and spiritual benefits attributed to specific crystals in healing traditions. Each crystal is believed to possess unique properties based on its color, composition, formation, and energetic vibration. Inclusion
Any material trapped inside a crystal during its formation, such as other minerals, gas bubbles, liquid, or organic matter. Inclusions create unique patterns and can significantly affect a crystal's appearance and metaphysical properties. Garden quartz contains chlorite inclusions, while phantom quartz shows ghost-like growth patterns from interrupted formation cycles.
Luster
The way light interacts with a crystal's surface, describing its shine or reflective quality. Different lusters include vitreous (glass-like), metallic, silky, pearly, resinous, and adamantine (diamond-like). Luster affects a crystal's visual appeal and can help identify mineral types. It remains constant regardless of color but may vary between crystal faces.
Metaphysical
Relating to aspects of reality beyond the physical or material world, including spiritual, energetic, and supernatural phenomena. In crystal healing, metaphysical properties refer to the non-physical healing benefits attributed to crystals, such as emotional healing, spiritual growth, protection from negative energy, and enhancement of intuition or manifestation abilities.
Piezoelectric
A physical property of certain crystals, notably quartz, to generate an electric charge when mechanical pressure is applied. This scientifically proven phenomenon explains why quartz is used in watches, electronics, and technology. Some practitioners believe piezoelectricity contributes to quartz's effectiveness in healing work, creating a measurable energy response.
Protective
A quality attributed to certain crystals believed to shield against negative energies, psychic attacks, electromagnetic pollution, or harmful influences. Protective crystals create energetic boundaries and absorb or deflect negativity before it affects the wearer. Black Tourmaline, Obsidian, Black Onyx, and Smoky Quartz are among the most powerful protective stones.
Associations & Classifications
Birthstone
A gemstone or crystal traditionally associated with each month of birth, believed to bring luck, protection, and enhanced qualities to those born in that month. The modern birthstone list was standardized in 1912. Examples include Garnet for January, Amethyst for February, Aquamarine for March, and Diamond for April. Wearing your birthstone is thought to amplify personal energy.
Zodiac Stone
Crystals associated with specific astrological signs based on their energetic resonance with that sign's characteristics. Unlike birthstones (based on birth month), zodiac stones are determined by astrological sign dates and complement or balance each sign's inherent traits. Feng Shui
